Football Heritage
Real Madrid.
Champions of Europe,
14th time winner
Can you name a club who matches their legacy?
One may say football is a cruel game,
Los blancos begs to differ,
they are full of Champions League pedigree
Real Madrid got through the knockout stages steadily.
When their chances of winning were taking a hike
Rodrygo and Camavinga hit back like Mike
The white and gold always remind pundits like Jamie Carragher,
that they are not the narrators
Like a snake,
in order to kill Real Madrid you must cut off its head
See that’s the thing they will still find a way through
They win matches like kings,
maybe they have royal in their name for a reason.
Some may call them the flukes of football,
the fact is they are the dukes of football
Never count this club out,
they howl football heritage.
Reflection
This poem was overall easier to write than the one I did yesterday. The difference with this one was I never struggled with thinking of rhymes and language features. With this one I wanted to create a poem that goes into Real Madrid’s huge winning mentality. The line “They win matches like kings, maybe they have royal in their name for a reason,” represented what I was trying to get across in my poem. I was focusing on the “royal” heritage aspect of how Real Madrid always win matches in a manner of dominance like “kings’’. I used similes as my language feature in the poem to compare how superior the club is. “When their chances of winning were taking a hike Rodrygo and Camavinga hit back like Mike”. This line is a simile that is used to show how Real Madrid have a strong response when they are faced with the pressure of losing. Mike Tyson had the hardest hits in boxing, so I used his “hits” to give an example to the reader of how hard the team fights back. In this line I also used perfect rhyming with “hike” and “mike”, both the ending sounds match exactly. All in all, I think that I perfectly reflected Real Madrid’s winning spirit.
Why this is one of my favourite assessments
I had a lot of fun with this assessment, maybe this was my favourite one to work on. My poem was based on the team I really like the most, Real Madrid. The thing I am most proud about with this poem is how my lines string together to form a nice rhythm and beat. All of this was put together to talk about my most preferred club.
